Mike Kenerley and Meghan Hayes founded The Essential Gardener to open the door for some much-needed services in the Charlotte landscaping scene.

The only full-service organic gardening and landscaping company in Charlotte, The Essential Gardener approaches large-scale landscaping from a conservative, sustainable perspective. From the beginning, Mike and Meghan threw out the contemporary turn-and-burn business model of the large landscaping companies. Instead, they decided to model The Essential Gardener on traditional organic estate gardening ideals and practices.
